SUMMARY:Set It and Forget It: Structured Content in WordPress with the Pods Framework
DESCRIPTION:For a content-heavy website\, you have to go beyond the WYSIWYG to focus on what’s important — the content. Structured content helps with consistency in content as well as layout. \nThere are multiple methods of building structured content in WordPress. The Pods Framework is a powerful way to “set it and forget it!” Focus on your content and relax about the layout. \nWe will discuss: \n\nReasons for using Pods over solutions like ACF\nCustom taxonomies and custom post types in Pods\nSetting up Pods templates with “Magic Tags”\nUsing conditionals in Pods templates to format layouts depending on available content\nUsing Pods shortcodes to build pages with structured content\n\nWe’ll run through a case study of an archive website using Pods custom taxonomy\, custom post types\, templates\, and shortcodes on the IA Summit conference website. \nAbout the Speaker\nAnita Cheng is a former cancer scientist who went into tech to help people faster. She dabbled in medical illustration\, graphic design\, then web design before discovering user experience design. She is currently Content Strategist and UX Designer at the SF Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development. She is also content strategist\, information architect\, and WordPress guru of this year’s IA Summit conference website\, which she will be demo-ing during the event. She started her web design career with HTML/CSS\, and has added JQuery\, WordPress\, and ASP.NET to her skills.
