Content Imports and Site Migrations
September 24, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Things change rapidly in the WordPress world. The content in this post is more than a year old and may no longer represent best practices.
Note that I’ve scheduled this for the 4th Sunday in September to avoid a conflict with WordCamp Sacramento.
Here’s the problem: the client’s old site is not in WordPress, but you need to import a ton of content. What do you do? It’s not always easy to bring content from another platform into WordPress, but it is always possible.
Topics:
Importing from HTML with the HTML Import 2 plugin
Importing WP comments with WordPress Comments Import & Export
Changing post types with Post Type Switcher
Managing taxonomies with Term Management Tools
Importing authors to Co-Authors Plus

If you have experience with complex imports (looking at you, Anca), please volunteer to help present.
