How do I display a gallery of posts?
Eve Lurie wanted to know whether it was possible to link the thumbnails in a WordPress gallery to posts instead of just to images. The gallery shortcode in WordPress doesn’t work that way–it’s really meant just for images–but there are various other plugins that will display posts or pages by featured image. Pieter Hartsook recommended the Justified Image Grid plugin from CodeCanyon. There’s a free Justified Image Gallery plugin that looks like it may do a similar thing in a more limited way, and there is a Masonry Post Gallery plugin. And there’s a plugin I used many years ago, which has been updated, WordPress Gallery Custom Links. There’s an interesting-looking plugin called WP Masonry Layout that has both a free and a pro version and works with multiple post types.
How do I make external links nofollow?
Google’s latest algorithm changes have caused some confusion regarding appropriate treatment of external links. In general, it’s good to have some external links, but if you use anchor text that says something like “Best dry cleaning service ever” your link may be interpreted as spam. So you might want to make all of your external links “nofollow” links, and also to be careful to use neutral-sounding anchor text: just the name of the business, or even the URL itself.
